Child Development Advisor (CDA)

Child Development Advisor

What is the Child Development Advisor?

The Child Development Advisor role is a collaborative role that helps students with a number of social, emotional and behavioural developments. I work collaboratively with staff, students and parents to help determine the needs of our students. Interventions are on individual, group, and classroom level. Students are provided with tools to support them through brief services, they may also be provided with opportunities to practice any new skills in a group setting. Students may also be continually monitored to ensure they are successful in their social and emotional development.

I am available at the school, via phone (403) 936-6141 or email: alomenda@rockyview.ab.ca please reach out for support to myself or classroom teacher.

Personal Message from our Child Development Advisor

Alisa Lomenda

Hello! My name is Alisa Lomenda and I am the Child Development Advisor here at Sarah Thompson School. As someone with over 20 years of trauma-informed practice, my passion lies in supporting children, youth, and families through their mental health and wellness journeys. I deeply believe in the importance of creating a safe, nurturing space where young people can feel heard, understood, and empowered to navigate their challenges. Through compassionate care and evidence-based practices, I aim to help students build resilience, manage stress, and foster emotional well-being – all vital skills for their overall development. I’m excited to work alongside educators, parents, and students to promote mental health and create a positive, supportive environment for growth.
